My husband & I took a chance and hired a photographer we’d found on a local page Facebook page.

I loved First Light Photography’s photos that had been shared and decided to cancel our booked photographer!

Enquiry made to Ash Culliford, the photographer behind First Light Photography, and I had a response within an hour.

The price was fantastic and on the day of our wedding, Ash went above and beyond to help & just took endless photos. I’d recommend any couples looking for a friendly, professional photographer to contact First Light Photography. The day after our wedding we had contact from Ash and he was editing images. Honestly, we are over the moon with our pictures and would not hesitate booking Ash again ☺️

We got married on Friday, 21st November at The Batch Country House, and from the very beginning Ash delivered a truly 5-star plus experience. From our pre-wedding photoshoot to the big day itself, Ash felt more like a lifelong friend than just a photographer. He’s was so easy to get along with, and incredibly talented at capturing every special moment in the most natural way.
We were amazed to receive our photos back within just three days! Every single image made us smile and brought back the joy of our perfect day. Ash blended seamlessly with our family and friends, keeping the atmosphere fun and relaxed, while also working brilliantly alongside our other suppliers.His professionalism and communication were flawless throughout the entire process, giving us complete confidence and peace of mind. We are so thankful for choosing First Light Photography and truly wouldn’t have had it any other way! We would recommend Ash without hesitation to anyone looking for a wedding photographer or for any occasion worth remembering. We will definitely be returning to him in the future to capture more of life’s special moments.

Hello I am Ash

Husband to an amazing wife, and dad to 3 beautiful children. I am 32 years old and a self-employed wedding photographer based in Somerset. I am reliable, experienced, and dedicated to providing a professional and affordable service. My candid documentary style photography aims to capture your special day as it happens using professional equipment and editing software. My approach is to blend in the background and capture you and your guests in the most natural way possible, with all the true emotions, as they happen, to minimise those fake or awkward smile photos we all dread to see. I understand the importance of engaging with people to help generate a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere on your special day. I am also happy to join in any banter or jokes on the day if requested. Wow. I honestly don’t think I can put into words just how incredible Ash was. His passion for photography shines through in every moment — from the way he captures the shots to the care and artistry he puts into editing. He made both myself and Will feel so comfortable, as well as our entire bridal party. As someone who usually hates being in front of the camera, I was blown away — I’m completely obsessed with every single image he captured. The communication was fantastic throughout. I don’t even know where to start, Ash is absolutely amazing. I cannot thank him enough for capturing our special day and all of our loved moments. He made us feel so comfortable from the get go. And on the day, it can’t have been easy with 8 girls to deal with but he was absolutely marvellous. He was helping us at every step. All the girls said how incredible and helpful he was. Very calming making us laugh, and just fitted the vibe perfectly. Beyond our expectations, wow wow what can we say. Ashley arrived early on the day of our wedding and was nothing but amazing from then on. He captured our wedding in such a beautiful way it feels like a dream. Ashley was really good with coming up with suggestions on how and where to take key photographs. He listened to what we wanted and took lovely ad hoc photos of all of our guests. All of our guests have commented on how stunning our photographs are. Ashley was from start to finish professional, friendly and easy to get along with. Without a doubt, he was the best decision we made. What can I say! From the start of this process to the finish, Ash was the most personable, accommodating professional you could ever meet! He was polite, charismatic and completely flexible. He attended to all of our needs and really listened to us when we asked him to capture the love and laughter of our friends and family. He created some beautiful photo opportunities which were extremely appreciated as we had no idea what sort of photos we wanted of ourselves. I’m thankful we left it in his capable hands as some of the moments he captured were magical! And if I don’t say so myself, he made us look like we belonged on the front of a magazine. I felt like I looked like a princess/movie star which is everything I could have asked for and more on such an important day. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Ash! Working with Ash was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. His exceptional talent, professionalism, and dedication to his work didn’t go unnoticed. The images captured were just what we were wanting, a great mix of lovely photos of the two of us throughout the day, nice group pictures, and lots of natural shots. We even had a preview within 24hrs! Ash was so friendly and wasn’t afraid to mix with the guests, make them feel comfortable in front of the lens and have a laugh with them. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better photographer than Ash for our wedding at Clearwell Castle. From the moment he arrived, Ash was the perfect mix of professional and personable. He was dressed smartly, blended in seamlessly with our guests, and made everyone feel completely at ease.

Ash is incredibly friendly, easy to work with, and clearly passionate about what he does. He captured all the special moments without ever being intrusive, and his attention to detail really shone through in every shot.

What truly blew us away was how quickly he turned around our photos! We received them the very next day! It was such a joy to relive the magic of our day so soon after, and the quality of the images was simply stunning.

Ash has been fantastic since the moment I made an enquiry. I just knew that he was going to be great for us on our special day. Ash was extremely professional without losing the attentive, friendly manner. He blended into our wedding party and you wouldn’t have even known there was a photographer there. I don’t even know where to begin, you will not be disappointed with the results of Ash’s work!
